Carrick: This is What We Showed, and We Achieved What Was Once Distant
Sunday 03-05-2026
Michael Carrick spoke after Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the 35th round of the English Premier League, expressing his pride in the players' performance and affirming that the team is still focused on finishing the season in the best possible way.

Carrick said: "Yes, in terms of the work done and the way the players performed, we can gain a lot from this performance. Qualifying for the Champions League seemed distant at one point, but it's not something we celebrate much; we just want to finish the league in a strong position."

Regarding the reasons for the team's development, he explained: "Having good players and an excellent coaching staff helps a lot. We have strong cohesion within the group, and we have overcome difficult changes and challenges. We are just trying to do the right things, and the players have responded wonderfully. We want to finish the season strongly."

He added: "We scored many goals in recent matches and managed to score in the last five games. We focused a lot on working without the ball. We started the game well, and I'm also pleased with how we finished it, despite some challenges we faced. But the players showed high quality, and we came out with the victory."

Regarding dealing with conceding goals, he said: "We always return to faith, which is tested in such moments. The players want to fight for each other. Tactics are a part, but mentality is the most important to overcome difficult moments."

He concluded by saying: "It's good to see what we've achieved in the league. We want to continue developing, and we cannot underestimate the value of what the players have contributed."

He also addressed Sisco's injury, saying: "He has been dealing with a leg issue for a while and received a blow to the same area that causes him problems."
