Drew Struggles Under Enrique's Leadership in the Champions League
Wednesday 29-04-2026
Former Barcelona player Drew Fernandez is not in the plans of Spanish coach Luis Enrique for the UEFA Champions League matches with Paris Saint-Germain, according to the newspaper "Sport."

The newspaper clarified that the player, who left Barcelona last January after activating his release clause, hardly participates in the European tournament with the French team, as Luis Enrique believes he is not yet ready for high-level matches in European football.

Dru played very limited minutes in the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, amounting to only 4 minutes, while he had participated in 59 minutes with Barcelona in the same competition.

The report indicated that the player sat on the bench during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, but he did not get a chance to participate, as Luis Enrique relied on players who were more prepared and physically experienced.

The Spanish coach relies on rotating the lineup in the French league, with Drew participating in 8 matches, starting in 4 of them. Meanwhile, the team continues to physically prepare its players at the end of the season to compete in all tournaments.

The report indicated that the player is not among Luis Enrique's primary choices in the UEFA Champions League so far, despite being on the team roster and remaining part of the group.
