Real Madrid Between Courtois' Return and Injury Crisis Before El Clasico
Tuesday 28-04-2026
Real Madrid is preparing to welcome back its main goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois before the anticipated El Clasico match against Barcelona, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo.'

According to the report, Courtois is nearing the final stages of recovery, with strong indications that he will be ready to participate in the match that will take place at Camp Nou, providing a significant boost for the royal team before the decisive encounter.

On the other hand, Real Madrid is experiencing difficult circumstances in terms of injuries, as Kylian Mbappe is confirmed to be absent after suffering a muscle injury, and Eder Militao has undergone surgery that will keep him out of the fields for about five months.

The newspaper indicated that Mbappe hopes to catch up with the El Clasico match scheduled for May 10 against Barcelona, although his participation will depend on the development of his physical condition in the coming days.

Courtois' return comes after a period of absence due to a muscle injury in his right thigh sustained during the second leg of the Champions League against Manchester City, which kept him away from the team in several matches.

During his absence, Real Madrid struggled in terms of results, achieving only two victories in seven matches, alongside two draws and three defeats, highlighting the significant impact of his absence on the team's performance.

Courtois is considered one of the most important elements of Real Madrid this season, as his saves have contributed to avoiding greater losses during periods of performance decline.
