Marc Cucurella Opens Door to Return to Barcelona
Marc Cucurella, the current Chelsea defender, has opened the door to the possibility of returning to Barcelona, confirming that the idea would be difficult but possible, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo'.
Cucurella said: 'It would be hard to refuse, I would have to think about my family. If the offer comes, we will see what decision will be made,' he said in statements before the Spain-Egypt match.
According to the newspaper, the 27-year-old player has not yet entered into any formal negotiations with Barcelona's sporting director Deco, despite being open to the idea of returning to his former club.
Cucurella's contract with Chelsea extends until 2028, with an option for an additional extension in favor of the English club. However, the player may consider leaving if a suitable offer arrives, especially since Barcelona is considered a potential destination for him as a return to his first home.
The report indicated that Cucurella expressed his comfort with life in London and his desire to stay for a long time, but his sporting situation at Chelsea is not in its best shape, especially after the technical changes and the departure of coach Enzo Maresca, in addition to the possibility of the team not participating in the Champions League next season.
The player's value is estimated at around 50 million euros, an amount that Barcelona's management sees as manageable in terms of salary structure, although Chelsea signed him in 2022 for about 64 million euros, meaning he is close to recovering his investment value.
According to the Spanish newspaper, any move by Barcelona to include Cucurella may require selling an important player in the defense line, given other priorities within the team to strengthen different positions.
