Al-Ahli Saudi Club was crowned the AFC Champions League title for the elite for the second consecutive time, after a hard-fought victory over Japan's Machida Zelvia with a score of 1-0, in the final match held in the city of Jeddah.

The decisive winning goal came from substitute Firas Al-Buraikan in the 96th minute of extra time, granting "Al-Raqi" a valuable victory and a new historic title.

With this achievement, Al Ahly became the second team to win consecutive titles in the AFC Champions League for the elite, following Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia, who accomplished this feat in the 2004 and 2005 editions.

Al-Ahly won the continental title for the first time in its history in the previous edition, after defeating Japan's Kawasaki with two goals to none. The team then successfully retained the title this season, affirming its status among the giants of Asian football.
