Final Court Decision on the Death Incident of Diogo Jota and His Brother
Press reports have revealed the final decision issued by investigators regarding criminal responsibility in the car accident that claimed the life of former Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his younger brother André Silva.
According to what was confirmed by "The Athletic" network, the Supreme Court in Zamora County, northwest Spain, has decided that there is no criminal liability in the incident, after a comprehensive review of all evidence related to the case.
The report clarified that investigations concluded that the cause of the accident was due to the explosion of a tire on the player's Lamborghini while attempting to overtake another car, which led to a loss of control and the vehicle colliding with a barrier in the middle of the road before it caught fire.
The court confirmed that there is no need to take any criminal proceedings in connection with the incident, noting that the case was already dismissed last November after consulting traffic accident experts and analyzing all the circumstances of the incident.
In the same context, the newspaper quoted a knowledgeable source within the court stating that the decision to dismiss the criminal case does not prevent the affected parties from resorting to civil court to claim the compensations they deem appropriate.
The brothers were on their way by land to the coastal city of Santander in northern Spain to catch a ferry to the United Kingdom, as Jota was scheduled to return to Liverpool in preparation for the new season, before the accident that ended their lives occurred.
