Former Arsenal Star Rejects Arteta's Dismissal and Calls for Continuation of Team Project
Mikel Arteta received clear support from one of Arsenal's former stars, despite the team's declining results in the race for the Premier League title this season.
According to the 'Mirror' newspaper, Jeremie Aliadiere confirmed that dismissing Arteta would be a wrong decision even if the team fails to win the title, noting that the Spanish coach has done great work since taking over the responsibility.
Arsenal currently tops the league table, but the gap with Manchester City has narrowed to just three points, with the latter having a game in hand, which increases the intensity of the competition in the final rounds.
Aliadiere explained that Arteta has succeeded in clearly developing the team over the past years, whether in terms of signings or raising the level of competition within the club, asserting that the current project deserves to continue.
He added that the worst-case scenario in case of losing the title should not lead to radical changes, as that would mean starting from scratch, at a time when Arsenal has become close to competing in various championships.
He concluded his statements by emphasizing that the best solution is to support the coach with new signings during the transfer period, while allowing some players to leave, in order to continue building a team capable of constant competition.
