Officially.. Wolverhampton First Relegated to the Championship
Wolverhampton Wanderers' relegation from the English Premier League was confirmed following West Ham United's goalless draw with Crystal Palace at the end of the 33rd round, marking the end of a challenging season for the Wolves from the start.
The relegation came as a culmination of a series of negative results, as the team remained at the bottom of the standings since the third round, achieving only three victories throughout the season, in a performance that was far from the aspirations of the club and its fans.
Coach Rob Edwards took on the task in November, in an attempt to salvage what could be saved, but he found himself facing a complex challenge, given the overall decline in the team's performance and the difficulty of restoring balance in a short period.
The season was not only poor in terms of performance but also saw tension within the club, as fan protests escalated against the club's owners, the Fosun Group, as well as the previous management led by Jeff Shi, reflecting internal crises that have accumulated over the years.
Despite this bleak scene, there is a sense of cautious optimism within the club, with expectations that the team can rebuild itself and return to the spotlight when it competes in the Championship (the first division in England) next season, for the first time since 2018.
