Liverpool's Victory Over Everton Delights Coach and Fans
Sunday 19-04-2026
Arie Slot, the coach of Liverpool, spoke in a press conference following the 2-1 victory over Everton in the 33rd round of the English Premier League. The match took place at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The coach said in his remarks about the team's performance: "What more do you expect from playing here? It was a very tough match."

He added: "My team players delivered what I hoped for and expected from them, and they put on a strong performance against Everton. In the end, scoring the goal was a great source of joy for us, especially with our amazing fans who were present in full force today. It was a special day for Liverpool."

Regarding the team's experience, he said: "There were many factors before the match, but this was one of them. From the start, we were not satisfied with their performance; they were better in the first 10-15 minutes, but we held on."

He continued: "Our performance improved gradually during the match. The moment they scored the equalizer to make it 1-1 was the last thing I expected, because we started the second half well. Then, at the end of the match, we kept pressing and almost scored several times, and then a goal from Everton, which was expected, came."

Regarding the team's slow start: "At the beginning of the match, both teams give their best and fight fiercely. Then, after 15-20 minutes, the game calms down a bit, and that's when tactics or positioning on the field can be discussed."

He continued: "The first 20 minutes involve running, facing tackles, and pressure from both sides - the match is usually a bit chaotic in the Premier League, especially in derby matches. When things settle down, we see that we can increasingly find the players we want to play, especially in the second half."

Regarding the additional morale boost from winning the first derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium: "Certainly. We all know it's a special occasion, the first derby at their new stadium. We know it's a historic match, and beating them for the second time this year - we haven't had much luck this season, and we usually concede goals in the final minutes."

He concluded: "When we scored a late goal, we saw the reaction of our players towards the fans, and the reaction of the fans towards our players. This shows you how important this match is for us."
