Conte: We Are in Physical Decline, Silence is Better Until the End of the Season
Saturday 18-04-2026
Antonio Conte, the head coach of Napoli, spoke about his team's 2-0 loss to Lazio and also commented on his future with the team.

Napoli suffered a defeat at their home ground, Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, against Lazio in the Italian league. The match was described by Conte as not being good from his team's side.

Conte said: "It wasn't a good match from our side, we lacked quality in the midfield. Lazio waited for us, closed the spaces, and launched counterattacks. We had 70% possession but couldn't manage a single shot on target."

He continued: "The feeling was of low energy, and yet it becomes difficult. We conceded goals from counterattacks. Perhaps I wasn't good enough at sensing this discomfort, which appeared after the Parma match, and maybe I wasn't good enough at providing the right motivation, which was to give our utmost and play the remaining matches to collect as many points as possible."

He added: "We were good in very difficult moments and managed to persevere, which allowed us to remain in the top positions in the Champions League zone, and now we have to complete the work."

Regarding his future with Napoli: "Last year, two months before the end of the season, there was talk about my future. I let others talk, and sometimes I say things that are misunderstood. This is part of football, and in my opinion, the more we keep silent, the better it is for everyone until the end of the season."
