The Swiss club Basel experienced an unexpected incident when a fire broke out in the locker rooms at the "St. Jakob-Park" stadium, leading to the cancellation of their match against Thun, which was scheduled as part of the Swiss league competition.

The club clarified in an official statement that the fire caused significant damage inside the stadium, particularly in the locker room area, which was completely destroyed, including the players' rooms and the team's equipment storage.

The statement indicated that the damage extended to several other facilities, including administrative offices such as the team manager's office, as well as physiotherapy areas, showers, and restrooms.

The team's equipment was clearly affected, with damage to the shoes and jerseys used for matches and training, in addition to the medical and technical equipment, which the club confirmed would be difficult to replace in a short time.

Basel confirmed that the Swiss Football Association agreed to postpone the match, with any new developments to be announced in the coming period.
