La Liga Opens Its Doors to Morocco: A Plan to Move Official Matches Outside Spain
Javier Tebas, the president of the Spanish League, announced that the idea of holding some Spanish league matches in Morocco has been proposed as part of the league's international expansion plans in the coming period.
Tebas explained in statements to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency that moving a number of league matches outside Spain, specifically to Morocco, is a possible option given the growing interest in the tournament in the region.
He pointed out that the great enthusiasm from Moroccan fans to follow the Spanish league, along with ease of travel, enhances the chances of implementing this idea, noting that the new Casablanca stadium could be among the options proposed to host these matches.
Tebas confirmed that the Middle East and North Africa region represents an important market for the Spanish League, explaining that follow-up indicators show the fan base in this region surpasses that of some other leagues.
He emphasized that Morocco holds a special place in this strategy, given the sports and historical relations it shares with Spain, in addition to the great passion for football and the remarkable achievements of Moroccan football in recent years.
