New statements have emerged clarifying the truth about Thiago Motta's connection with Napoli, amidst speculations about his future and the possibility of succeeding the current coach Antonio Conte, who is a candidate to coach the Italian national team.

Dario Canovi, the agent closely associated with Motta, confirmed that the talk of ongoing negotiations is unfounded, denying any direct contact in recent times.

Canovi clarified that the only contact between Napoli's president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Motta dates back to the summer of 2023, but it was merely a casual inquiry among several contacts the president made in search of a coach, without the matters developing into real negotiations or an official agreement.

He pointed out that the current situation is completely different, as there are no ongoing talks, confirming that neither he nor his son (Motta's agent) have received any contact, and Motta himself has not been informed of any move from Napoli, which means that everything being circulated is just media rumors for now.

Nevertheless, Motta's name remains on the list of potential candidates in case Conte leaves, especially with talks about the latter possibly taking over as coach of the Italian national team, which might prompt Napoli to look for a suitable replacement in the upcoming period.
