Italian Tour in Australia: Milan Derby and Juventus vs Inter Summit in Perth
Sunday 05-04-2026
The newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed plans to hold a series of major friendly matches for Italian league clubs in Australia next August, following the failure to hold an official match there last February due to the Asian Football Confederation's refusal.

This time, there will be no obstacles, as the matches will be held in a friendly manner without competitive points.

The tour will feature the participation of prominent clubs, most notably AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus, along with Palermo. This move is part of Italian clubs' efforts to expand their global presence and engage with their fans outside Europe, particularly in Australia.

The main matches are expected to be held at Optus Stadium, with the Milan Derby taking place on August 5, in a highly anticipated encounter between Milan and Inter. Another strong match is scheduled for August 8 between Juventus and Inter.

On August 11, Juventus will face Palermo in a third match, amid great anticipation from the Italian community, especially those of Sicilian descent.

It is noted that Palermo is owned by the City Football Group, which also owns the Australian club Melbourne City, enhancing the international nature of this friendly tour.
