Spalletti: De Rossi is One of My Sons, and the Genoa Match Requires Focus
Saturday 04-04-2026
Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Juventus, spoke about the upcoming match against Genoa as part of the thirty-first round of the Italian league, emphasizing the difficulty of the encounter and the importance of achieving victory amidst the strong competition this season.

Spalletti said during the press conference before the match: "The matches awaiting us are important, but this is our standard, and it is natural for us to engage in such encounters. It has always been this way and will continue to be so. We have to be prepared to give our all because our margin for error is limited given our position in the standings."

He continued: "We will need to win most of the matches to stay in the competition circle, we must be at our peak concentration and make the right decisions, and I expect the team to show its best form against a strong opponent like Genoa."

He added: "I don't understand the concern about renewing my contract; the relationship is going naturally. The priority right now should be the Genoa match, it is a very tough encounter, and there will be time in the coming days to discuss everything, and it is not necessary to resolve it quickly."

Regarding the team's condition, he said: "Vlahovic is in good shape and has trained exceptionally well in the past period, benefiting from alternating between intense training and recovery periods. I think he might not start as a key player, but he is capable of helping us during the match."

He continued: "Boga has shown his characteristics to everyone; he possesses quality and strength, although he is slightly affected by physical contact. He prefers playing on the wings because he sees the opponent and the ball better. We are happy with his presence, and he is in excellent condition. This period has helped us get to know each other better."

Spalletti concluded his statements by saying: "De Rossi is one of my sons in football, and I love him as I believe he loves me. Sometimes I annoyed him, as happens between a father and his son. He is a coach who adds a lot to his team, and you can see his personality in Genoa's playing style, whether in mentality, strength, or the ability to play aggressively and organized all over the field."
