Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press statement following the 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

He stated, "It's not good to enter the second half trailing by two clean goals just before it ends, as this doesn't boost our morale, especially after the season we've been through. It was difficult to accept this result. The only good thing is that we didn't concede more goals."

Regarding Mohamed Salah missing the penalty: "I won't focus on one player, but rather on the team as a whole, and this summarizes our performance today, and perhaps summarizes our performance in large parts of the season. It's not just about missing big chances, but we've missed several penalties this season. In the first half, Mohamed Salah had a chance when we played a quick counter-attack, unfortunately, the penalty wasn't scored, and you have to score goals if you want a chance to win the match."

Regarding the Paris Saint-Germain match in the Champions League: "If we want to perform well on Wednesday, losing 4-0 is not in our favor, but a bigger loss would pose an even greater problem for us going there."

He noted, "I tried to get the team back into the game and reduce the deficit to 4-1 or 4-2, but the most important thing for me was to keep the score at four goals, and that was my primary concern."

He added, "I took Joe Gomez off the field because since I joined the team, it has been clear that it's not easy to play him for the full 90 minutes twice. So, if we want to rely on him on Wednesday, it would be beneficial to take him off today."

Regarding the importance of the UEFA Champions League this season: "It is extremely important because reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League is not easy every season. We eagerly look forward to this tournament and facing another strong team. We want to qualify for the Champions League next season because we have a lot to compete for."

He concluded: "We have faced many setbacks and disappointments, but this is part of being a football player and a human being, and you have to endure hardships even in tough times.
