The Spanish Referees Committee announced the selection of international referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer to manage the first of three consecutive matches between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in La Liga, scheduled for Saturday at the Metropolitano Stadium at 9 PM Cairo time.

This will be the second time this season that Busquets Ferrer manages a Barcelona match, following their 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in a previous match, which witnessed issues with the video assistant technology. Referee Mario Melero Lopez will oversee the video technology in this match.

Busquets Ferrer will manage Barcelona matches in La Liga for the sixth time, and with the exception of the previous draw with Rayo, all other matches ended in favor of the Catalan team, including a postponed match against Osasuna last season with a 3-0 victory, and other matches against Villarreal, Las Palmas, and Alaves in previous seasons.

As for Atletico Madrid, this will be the fourth time Busquets Ferrer manages their matches, including two league matches and one in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, with a record of three defeats, one draw, and one victory for the Rojiblancos in the previous matches he managed for them.
