A Privilege Only Real Madrid Holds in Europe
The General Assembly of the European Club Association (EFC), recently held in Prague, concluded by affirming the unity that has prevailed in European football since the end of the Super League project, and the restoration of Real Madrid's position within the official structure of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Real Madrid is the only club in Europe that represents itself directly in the association, without being part of the general assembly of other clubs, which grants it exceptional influence in decision-making within European football.
The rest of the clubs fall under the group of European clubs headed by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and they enjoy strong strategic and commercial relations with the European Union, encompassing more than 800 teams, which makes their individual influence less compared to the influence of Real Madrid alone.
The association affirmed its positive stance towards Real Madrid and the importance of its role in its future plans following the first club assembly since the significant change in the European landscape.
The General Assembly of the European Club Association stated: "There is unity between the EFC, UEFA, Real Madrid, and A22. The recent joint communication between the association, the federation, and the royal club was addressed, with all parties committed to constructive cooperation for the benefit of club football."
The influence of Real Madrid stands out clearly compared to other European clubs, both in terms of its ability to individually impact decision-making and the necessity for the club to be involved and mentioned in all forums, a privilege that no other club in Europe enjoys.
