Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco national team player, expressed his great happiness after his national team won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, affirming that this achievement came after a long wait.

Hakimi said in statements to The Bridge Show: "We are very happy, I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and even if the victory came this way, the important thing is that we achieved it."

The Moroccan national team was crowned champions after the Confederation of African Football decided to strip Senegal of the title and consider them withdrawn from the final match, following their players' departure from the field in protest against a penalty awarded in the final minutes.

In another context, Hakimi revealed the behind-the-scenes of his choice to represent the Moroccan national team, explaining that he had a brief experience with Spain's youth teams but did not feel comfortable, leading him to decide to play for Morocco even before joining Real Madrid's first team.

On the other hand, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) accepted the appeal submitted by the Senegalese Football Federation against the CAF's decision, pending the outcome of the legal proceedings in the coming period.
