Mohamed Abdel Monsef Reveals Behind the Scenes of Mostafa Shobier's Nomination to Zamalek
Mohamed Abdel Monsef, the former Zamalek goalkeeper, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of his recommendation for Mostafa Shobeir, the Al Ahly star, to join Zamalek at an earlier time.
Abdel Monsef said on MBC Masr channel: "I was talking about a period that spanned several years, approximately six years, and I had a vision of exploiting a certain situation with complete honesty."
He added: "At that time, Mostafa Shobeir was not playing regularly, and there were talks about him going out on loan or looking for another opportunity."
He continued that he contacted his father, Ahmed Shobeir, and proposed the idea of Mostafa joining Zamalek.
He continued that the idea was rejected because the player insisted on staying with Al-Ahly, and it was not seriously considered.
He continued: "I presented the matter within Zamalek Club to some officials on the board of directors and said that there is an opportunity that should be seized. After that, some pages appeared that began attacking and belittling the idea, and it later became clear that these pages were fake."
He concluded: "I left Zamalek because of a certain person, and it was just a perspective and an opportunity that could be utilized. It's not unusual to consider signing a distinguished player, especially since Al Ahly has previously signed players from Zamalek like Zizo, Kahraba, and Emam Ashour."
