The Argentine Football Association was seeking a friendly alternative, proposing a match against Senegal instead of the previously scheduled game between the Senegalese national team and their Gambian counterparts.

However, the official response from the Senegalese side was decisive, stating that canceling the agreed-upon match with Gambia is unacceptable, as it could be seen as an affront to the other party after the prior agreement between the two teams.

According to journalist Lassana Camara, the Senegalese federation emphasized its commitment to its word, preferring to respect existing agreements rather than making sudden changes to its friendly match schedule.
