The Asian Football Confederation Resolves the Debate: Asian Champions League Finals for the Elite in Jeddah
The Asian Football Confederation has resolved the ongoing debate about the possibility of moving the final stages of the AFC Champions League for the elite outside Saudi Arabia, confirming that the tournament will continue to be held in Jeddah as previously scheduled.
The Asian Football Confederation had previously decided to postpone the Round of 16 matches of the tournament due to the current situation in the Middle East. The first-leg matches were initially scheduled to take place between March 2 and 4, with the return matches set for March 9 to 11.
The continental federation confirmed via Saudi News Channel that the final stages of the tournament will be held in Jeddah from April 16 to 25, denying any intention to change the host city.
The round of 16 of the tournament features the participation of several prominent clubs from the western region, most notably Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia, as well as Al-Wahda and Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai from the UAE, in addition to Al-Duhail and Al-Sadd from Qatar, and Tractor from Iran.
