Official: Ittihad Approves Loan of Mitai to Genoa
Al Ittihad has officially announced its agreement for the transfer of Albanian full-back Mario Mitaj to Italian side Genoa on loan until the end of the current season.
The club stated through its official account on "X" that the management has approved Genoa's request, wishing the player success in his new chapter and hoping he benefits from the professional experience.
The deal includes a one-season loan for Metai, with a clause granting the Italian club the right to purchase the player's contract outright at the end of the loan period.
The federation's decision comes as part of a restructuring of its foreign roster, as the coaching staff seeks to bolster the midfield position following the departure of Brazilian Fabinho.
Metai joined Ittihad during the summer of 2024 on a four-season contract, before the club decided to loan him out during the current summer transfer window.
The player hopes to regain his form and secure more playing minutes with Genoa. Meanwhile, Al-Ettifaq is giving Al-Ittihad the opportunity to free up a foreign slot in preparation for new signings.
Metai is set to begin his journey with the Italian team in the coming days, following the completion of all procedures related to his official transfer.
