Algerian media reports stated that the authorities detained South African coach Rhulani Mokwena at Houari Boumediene International Airport in the Algerian capital, after finding in his possession a sum of hard currency estimated at around 16,000 euros.

The incident occurred while the coach was at the airport, undergoing routine inspection procedures before traveling, when the undeclared amount of money was discovered by the authorities.

According to reports, Mokwena attempted to hide the money in various places among his personal belongings, including inside his shoe and inside a book, as well as other locations. However, the authorities managed to find the money during the search.

It is noted that the Mouloudia Club of Algiers had previously announced the dismissal of Mokwena from his position after a period of no more than eight months as the team's coach.
