Iraq Duo Gets Green Light Before Global Playoff
The duo of the Iraq national football team playing abroad, Rebin Sulaka and Zaid Tahseen, have received approval from their clubs to join the Lions of Mesopotamia camp early, in preparation for the global playoff match qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
The President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, had previously confirmed that the association completed all logistical procedures related to issuing visas for players to enter Mexican territories, noting that the team delegation will head next Friday without any administrative obstacles, with expectations of the team participating with full ranks in the playoff match.
Informed sources told winwin that the management of Port Thai Club granted defender Rebin Sulaka permission to join the Iraqi national team's camp early, to be part of the group that will start preliminary preparations for the decisive confrontation against the winner of the Bolivia national football team match and the Suriname national football team.
The sources added that Pakhtakor Uzbek Club defender Zaid Tahseen also received approval from the technical staff and his club's management to join the Iraqi national team early, where it is expected that the players will join the team delegation when it heads to Monterrey next Friday, to start preparations for the anticipated confrontation to be held in the same city.
The sources explained that these approvals came after intensive contacts and discussions conducted by the Iraqi Football Association with the Asian Football Confederation, which in turn communicated with the clubs to facilitate the early joining of the players to the national team, given the importance of the upcoming match in the global playoff.
It indicated that the technical staff of the Iraqi national team, led by Australian coach Graham Arnold, prefers all players to join as soon as possible, in order to start preparations ideally before the decisive confrontation.
