After Previous Special Matches, Slot Faces Tottenham Again
Sunday 15-03-2026
Before Liverpool's match against Tottenham, Reds manager Arne Slot recalls his memories of the last two encounters between Liverpool and Tottenham, each carrying a different message about what could have happened.

The last match at Anfield saw Liverpool crowned champions after a sweeping 5-1 victory, while the win in London in December offered a glimpse of a promising future following the club's expenditure of £450 million on major summer signings.

The fans and coaching staff were worried after Alexander Isak suffered a broken leg while scoring a stunning goal assisted by Florian Wirtz, following a strong challenge from Micky van de Ven. It was Isak's second goal in the league with Liverpool, but he hasn't played since and will be out until the international break.

Sallot pointed out that the absence of Isak significantly impacted the team's offensive performance, as Liverpool's forwards have scored only 27 goals this season, compared to Mohamed Salah's scoring rate alone last season.

The conversion rate of chances into goals has dropped to 7.6%, while Isak had a rate of 19% last season and 21% the season before, which would have changed the team's results if he had been present throughout the season.

Despite the challenges and injuries, Slott sees the current season as a transitional year for the team and appreciates past achievements, especially Liverpool's Premier League victory against Tottenham. He emphasizes that working at this distinguished club remains a unique experience, even in a difficult season, and that winning the title remains a special moment in everyone's memory.
