Salah: Only the First Half is Over, and This is What I Ask from the Fans
Liverpool coach Arne Slot spoke in a press statement following the 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, in a match held at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Stadium.
The coach said in his speech: "There are many similarities between what happened three months ago and what is happening now."
"We had several opportunities to score. After 10-15 minutes, you expect us to take the lead, then their first attack comes and ends with a goal from a set piece. Last time, the goal was a penalty. And there was another goal for us that was disallowed, so there are many similarities."
He added: "You play two matches against each other, and now the first half is over, and they are leading 1-0. We can perform better, I am completely sure of that. But even in the match we just played, we had enough chances to score."
He emphasized, "We didn't succeed, but we will play next week at Anfield, and our fans will be very supportive. I think that's what happened today with Galatasaray... They had massive fan support, and it was difficult for us to play under these conditions."
He concluded: "Let's hope we create the same atmosphere next week at Anfield."
