Mokoena Nears Departure from MC Alger
Tuesday 10-03-2026
All eyes within the Mouloudia Club of Algiers are on the future of South African coach Rulani Mokwena, who is close to leaving the team after a short period in charge of the technical role.

According to press reports, Mokwena informed the team president, Haj Rajm, of his intention to leave following the team's failure to achieve the set goals this season, especially after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Algerian Cup against CR Belouizdad, as well as exiting the group stage of the African Champions League.

Despite Mouloudia Algiers currently leading the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 standings with 40 points, three points ahead of its pursuer CS Constantine, the South African coach preferred to leave due to the failure to achieve the continental objectives that were among the club's priorities this season.

On the other hand, press reports indicated that Mokwena has reached an agreement with the Libyan Union management to take over the team's coaching in the upcoming period. Most of the details have been agreed upon, and they are awaiting the signing of a contract that extends for two and a half seasons.

According to the same sources, Mokwena is expected to lead Mouloudia Alger in their upcoming match against Athletic Paradou on Friday, before officially leaving to embark on his new experience in the Libyan league.
