Enrique: Winning the First Champions League Title is the Hardest, and We Are Ready to Face Chelsea
Tuesday 10-03-2026
Luis Enrique, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, confirmed that winning the UEFA Champions League remains the toughest challenge in the tournament, noting that his team is preparing for a strong encounter against Chelsea in the round of 16 of the continental competition.

Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning UEFA Champions League titleholder, is preparing to face Chelsea in the Round of 16, a match that brings back memories of the FIFA Club World Cup final between the two teams last July, when the Blues defeated the Parisian team.

Enrique said during the press conference before the first leg scheduled for Wednesday: "I believe Liam Rosenior was delivering an outstanding performance when he was the coach of Strasbourg, as his team played attractive attacking football alongside clear defensive solidity."

He added, "We know we will be playing one of the best matches in the round of 16, and it is a completely different challenge from others. Therefore, we must focus on the important things for us and try to play in our own style to achieve victory in our way."

He continued: "We realize it will be a tough match, but we are looking forward to it with great enthusiasm, and we have no doubt in our abilities or the level we can deliver."

He continued by saying, "We always focus on the positive aspects throughout the season. There are good moments and others that are more sensitive, and it's important to know how to handle them. We also understand that noise and both positive and negative comments are a natural part of football."

He added, "What sets us apart is that we are a team accustomed to such situations. Last season, we won almost every title except one, and despite that, we faced significant criticism. However, our ability to handle those circumstances is what distinguishes us."

The Paris Saint-Germain coach concluded his remarks by saying: "I believe that winning the title for the first time is the hardest, and winning it a second time is not easy either, but everyone knows that we are capable of claiming the title again, and that is what we are striving for."
