Mark Poppel Wanted in the English Premier League
Tuesday 10-03-2026
Liverpool Football Club has started its moves early in the European transfer market in preparation for restructuring its defense line for the next season, given the possibility of French defender Ibrahima Konaté leaving in the summer as a free agent.

According to the "Fichajes" website, the management of the English club has listed Atletico Madrid defender Marc Pubill as one of the top options to compensate for this potential absence.

The same source explained that this planning comes at a time when the future of coach Arne Slot with Liverpool has not been officially decided. However, the sports management continues to work on strengthening the team with players who have both present and future potential in order to maintain competitiveness in the English Premier League.

Mark Boubel is highly regarded within Liverpool's corridors due to his versatility and the level he has shown with Atletico Madrid this season. Initially joining to play as a right-back, coach Diego Simeone successfully converted him into a central defender, a role in which he has excelled during his official appearances this season, catching the attention of the English club's scouts.

The report indicated that Liverpool sees the Spanish defender as a suitable option to form a strong defensive duo alongside the Dutchman Virgil van Dijk, thanks to his physical abilities, strength in aerial duels, and his ability to cover defensively in wide spaces.

Despite Liverpool's significant interest, signing Boubel will not be easy, as his contract with Atlético Madrid runs until June 2030, and the Spanish club shows no desire to sell him. Nevertheless, Liverpool is considering making a substantial financial offer to persuade Atlético Madrid's management to open negotiations.
