Mostafa Azzam Clarifies the Fate of the Friendly Match Between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in Qatar
Mostafa Azam, the Executive Director of the Egyptian Football Association, clarified the fate of the anticipated friendly match between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which was scheduled to take place in Qatar during the international break this March.
In his statements to the Saudi newspaper "Okaz," Azzam pointed out that Qatar has not yet apologized for hosting the match. Therefore, it is expected to take place on its previously scheduled date unless an official notification is issued by the Qatari side, in which case any changes will be announced.
Azzam denied the existence of any talks at this moment about moving the match to Egypt or Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Football Federation had previously announced the arrangement of two friendly matches against Egypt and Serbia on March 26 and 30 as part of the "Falcons" training camp in Qatar, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Some media reports have indicated the possibility of moving the Egypt-Saudi Arabia match to Cairo instead of holding it in Qatar, should any changes occur.
