Galatasaray Clarifies the Reality of a Release Clause in Osimhen's Contract
The president of the Turkish club Galatasaray, Dursun Özbek, confirmed that the contract of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen does not include any release clause that would allow any club to sign him for a predetermined amount, amidst rumors linking the player to a move to Juventus.
Uzbek clarified: "There is no release clause in Osimhen's contract. He is a very successful player and will serve Galatasaray for many years. Perhaps the amount was considered high at the time of signing the contract, but today the prevailing opinion in football circles is that the deal's value was low compared to the player's true worth."
It is noted that Juventus was among the clubs that previously followed Osimhen and attempted to sign him two years ago before his move to Galatasaray. According to Italian sources, there is a clause preventing the player from transferring to any club in the Italian league until September 2027.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan in the summer of 2024, before the transfer became permanent the following year for 75 million euros. During his time with the Turkish club, Osimhen scored 53 goals in 65 matches across all competitions.
During his four years with Italian club Napoli, Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 matches and won the Italian league title in the 2022/2023 season, where he was the top scorer of the tournament. Osimhen's contract with Galatasaray ends in June 2029.
