Galatasaray Receives Strict Penalty
Galatasaray fans will not be able to attend the return leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 match at Anfield, scheduled for March 18, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."
This decision came after the penalty imposed by UEFA on the Turkish club following the incidents that occurred in the return match against Juventus in Turin on February 25, which ended with the Italian team's 3-2 victory. However, this was not enough to change the first-leg result in favor of Galatasaray, which was 5-2.
A fine of 40,000 euros was imposed on the club due to fans throwing objects, lighting fireworks, and attempting to enter the stadium without tickets.
The penalty also included a ban on ticket sales to the club's fans for the upcoming European match, which is the return leg against Liverpool on English soil. This match will determine the team that advances to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, with the first leg to be played in Istanbul on Tuesday, March 10.
