German coach Julian Nagelsmann said that player selection does not depend solely on their technical level, but on how they handle their roles within the team, especially when a player finds himself in the fifteenth or sixteenth position on the list, despite being a key star in his club. He explained that the biggest challenge is knowing whether this player can adapt to a different role or not.

Nagelsmann added that some players may not express their dissatisfaction publicly, but they do so in private conversations, noting that commitment must be genuine and sincere.

He emphasized that words alone are not enough; players must show during crucial times, especially in March, their readiness to prioritize the team's interest over themselves, pointing out that his experience has proven that not everyone is capable of this.

The German national team coach gave an example from his time with Bayern Munich, discussing the situation of Ryan Gravenberch after his transfer from Ajax. He noted that the player had high quality, but competition with Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich, in addition to the promotion of Alexander Pavlovic, complicated his situation within the team.

Nagelsmann concluded his remarks by emphasizing that some players need a consistent rhythm throughout the match to give their best, while there are other players who can be utilized for limited minutes only, whether to maintain the result or to attempt scoring a goal, and they give all their energy in a short time, explaining that this type of mentality is not available to all players.
