Selection of the Venue for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Final
Monday 02-03-2026
The Asian Football Confederation announced the selection of King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh to host the opening and final matches of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

The stadium is currently undergoing comprehensive reconstruction, with its capacity set to increase to about 72,000 spectators by November 2026, up from approximately 58,000 previously.

The Confederation explained in a statement from Kuala Lumpur that the stadium will be the venue for the opening match featuring the Saudi national team, in addition to the anticipated final of the continental tournament.

The stadium will also host four group stage matches, along with a match in the Round of 16 and another in the quarter-finals before the final event in early February.

Known as the “tent” due to its roof design inspired by the Bedouin tent, the stadium is the largest among eight venues that will host the tournament matches.

The 2027 Asian Cup will take place in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, with Riyadh hosting multiple stadiums, while Jeddah will host matches at King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium.

Meanwhile, Khobar will feature its new stadium, which accommodates 45,000 spectators, in all rounds except the final match.

The nineteenth edition will witness the implementation of team camps for the first time, with dedicated accommodation and fixed training grounds for each team throughout the tournament.

The match schedule and timings are set to be determined during the final draw scheduled for April 11 in Riyadh, while Qatar won the title of the previous edition.
