FIFA Delegation Arrives in Mexico
Saturday 28-02-2026
Mexico is witnessing a dangerous escalation in violence following the elimination of the notorious drug dealer "El Mencho," one of the country's most prominent cartel leaders, leading to the spread of chaos across about 20 out of 32 Mexican states.

The ongoing clashes have resulted in the deaths of 70 people so far, including 25 military personnel, as confrontations continue between security forces and criminal elements in several areas. The situation in the city of Guadalajara has been described as unstable.

These developments come at a sensitive time, as an official delegation from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is scheduled to arrive in Mexico in the coming hours to review the logistical aspects and security preparations for hosting the World Cup, amid concerns related to security and stability.

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, confirmed that the tournament will take place in the country as planned, noting that FIFA President Gianni Infantino reassured her about the ongoing preparations. She said, "Gianni Infantino assured me that the World Cup will be held in our country."
