Tuesday 24-02-2026
The young Moroccan international Yanis Bakraoui continues to attract attention this season, having made a strong name for himself with Estoril Praia in the Portuguese league, delivering outstanding offensive performances.

El Bakrawi reached 17 goals in 23 matches, scoring hat-tricks on two occasions and netting twice in four other games, making him one of the standout forwards in the competition this season.

Ahead of him in the top scorers' ranking are Luis Javier Suarez, the Sporting Lisbon striker, and Vangelis Pavlidis, the Benfica player, each with 20 goals. Meanwhile, Al-Bakrawi has narrowed the gap to just three goals, with decisive rounds remaining that could change the complexion of the Golden Boot race.

Bakraoui contributed to the Moroccan under-23 team's victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Egypt's under-23 team, which opened the door for him to join the Moroccan national football team.

With his continued brilliance in Portugal, there are increasing calls for him to be given a greater opportunity with the national team, amidst the fans' aspirations to see him lead the "Atlas Lions" attack in upcoming events, especially the 2026 World Cup.
