Renaissance Berkane Appeals to FIFA Against Al-Ahly of Libya in Lamine Camara Dispute
Wednesday 18-02-2026
The Renaissance Berkane club decided to approach the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to defend its rights in the case of Senegalese player Lamine Camara, following developments related to his attempted transfer to Al-Ahly of Libya.

According to the available information, the Libyan club initiated steps to unilaterally terminate the player's contract by activating the penalty clause. However, they reconsidered completing the process after realizing there were legal difficulties related to finalizing the procedure and registering the player through the transfer system.

Al Ahly of Libya sought an exceptional solution before the closure of the winter transfer window in Libya by contacting FIFA to obtain a special license that would allow the registration of the player. This prompted the management of Renaissance Berkane to officially take action and pursue the legal route to protect its interests.

The Orange Club strengthened its position by hiring a team of lawyers to prepare a comprehensive file and submit it to FIFA against both the player and the Libyan club, which could expose both parties to penalties if an amicable settlement is not reached.

The regulations indicate that activating the penalty clause requires notifying the original club within a specified period, which did not happen. The player attempted to terminate his contract in the final hours of the transfer window, despite participating in the team's last training session on the same day, without issuing an official notice or taking complete legal action.
