Guardiola: We Didn't Utilize Spaces Optimally, and This is Illogical
Saturday 14-02-2026
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference following the team's qualification to the FA Cup Round of 16, after defeating Salford City 2-0.

The coach said in his speech: "They defended excellently and were very cohesive, and we didn't utilize the spaces optimally. The match was dull until we scored the second goal. Before the score became 2-0, the match wasn't good."

He added, "You can go up 1-0 and play brilliantly. Sometimes you can win 3-0 and the match is poor."

He emphasized, "It's better that we scored this goal [Marc Guehi's second goal]. It has been three very tough weeks with a lot of matches, and it's exhausting. Today's match was the last one, and now we have a short break."

Regarding the change in cup match rules: "For example, Marc Guehi cannot play in the League Cup final, but why is he allowed to play in the FA Cup, and why is he not allowed in the other match? This doesn't make sense, but it's okay."

He concluded about James Trafford: "He is a reliable goalkeeper. A great keeper."
