Benzema's Departure Eases Al-Ittihad's Burdens: What Are the Reasons?
Wednesday 11-02-2026
Reports have revealed that Al-Ittihad Club benefited administratively and financially from the departure of French player Karim Benzema to Al-Hilal during the last winter transfer window, as they were relieved from extensive operational commitments associated with his presence.

The Saudi newspaper "Okaz" reported that Benzema's departure saved the club 14 different positions that were dedicated to serving the player and meeting his daily needs both inside and outside the club.

These tasks included an extensive security team consisting of 4 security guards to protect him and his family, along with a private chef, food preparers, a hair stylist, a wardrobe manager, a massage therapist, a nutritionist, a personal trainer, and a private driver.

The management also eliminated the cost of booking an entire floor in a five-star hotel overlooking the Red Sea, which was designated for Benzema's stay to ensure the highest levels of privacy and comfort.

The French star had terminated his contract with Al-Ittihad last January due to disputes related to the extension of his contract, which was set to expire on June 30, before signing with Al-Hilal on a one-and-a-half-season contract.

It is noted that Benzema joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023, achieving the league and King's Cup titles. He participated in 83 matches, during which he scored 54 goals and assisted 17 goals before his transfer.
