Rennes Announces Suspension of Coach and Assistants in Preparation for Dismissal
Monday 09-02-2026
The French club Stade Rennais announced in an official statement that it has initiated an internal procedure against the head coach, Senegalese Habib Beye, and his assistants Olivier Saragaglia, Sébastien Béchard, and Yann Cavéza, without disclosing further details about the nature of the issue at this time, pending a final decision from the management.

The club clarified that the first team's training sessions will be temporarily managed by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre, and Maxime Le Marchand until further notice, in a move aimed at ensuring technical stability during the investigation period.

Rennes is currently in sixth place in the French league standings and is preparing for a strong match against Paris Saint-Germain, the leader and defending champion, on Friday. This pivotal match could affect the team's ambitions to compete for spots qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

Rennes had entered the European qualification race strongly after defeating Lille 2-0 about a month ago, as part of an impressive streak during which they achieved six wins in seven matches. However, they recently experienced a clear collapse in their results, failing to secure any victory in five consecutive matches, managing only one draw against four defeats. This increased the pressure on the coaching staff and led to this administrative decision.
