AS FAR Defeats Djoliba in the Confederation Cup

Olympic Safi achieved an important victory over their guest, Djoliba of Mali, with a score of two goals to one in the match that took place this Sunday evening at the Al Massira Stadium in Safi, as part of the fifth round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Safi team entered the match with strength and succeeded in opening the scoring in the first minute through Soufiane El Moden, giving the home side an early advantage.

The Mali team quickly adjusted the score in the fourteenth minute when Aboubakar Diarra scored the equalizer from a penalty kick, ending the first half in a positive draw.

At the start of the second half, Soufiane El Mouden put Olympique Safi back in the lead by scoring the second goal in the 50th minute, benefiting from a decisive pass by Mohamed Chamlal, highlighting his prominent role in the match.

Djoliba attempted to come back in the remaining minutes of the match, but the solid defensive organization of Olympique Safi prevented any changes, allowing the home team to secure the victory.

With this victory, Olympique Safi raised its tally to 12 points in second place, behind the leader USM Alger, which has 13 points. Meanwhile, San Pedro of Ivory Coast holds third place with three points, and Djoliba is at the bottom of the standings with one point.

It is noted that Olympique Safi had already secured its qualification to the quarter-finals, making its upcoming match against USM Alger, scheduled for February 14, merely a formality at the end of the group stage.
