Ronaldo Moves to Block Benzema's Transfer to Al-Hilal
Monday 02-02-2026
The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr has sparked a new wave of controversy within the Saudi Pro League after his actions opposing the transfer of French player Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal during the current period.

Ronaldo objects to the completion of Benzema's transfer to Al-Hilal, considering it a violation of the principle of equal opportunities among major clubs, and giving an advantage to one team over others in the competition race.

This situation coincided with Ronaldo's absence from Al-Nassr's match against Al-Riyadh in the twentieth round, where reports indicated that his absence was due to his dissatisfaction with the level of support provided to his team compared to other clubs.

The Al-Nassr captain believes that the Public Investment Fund has not provided sufficient support to the yellow club, while Al-Hilal is gaining greater negotiating power, especially as they are close to signing Benzema.

The developments of the deal came after Karim Benzema objected to the contract renewal offer with Al-Ittihad, which included unsatisfactory financial terms, prompting him to personally decide to miss the team's last two matches.

The journalist Abdullah Al-Hanyan, through Al Arabiya FM radio, confirmed that Ronaldo feels very angry about the potential deal and is exerting pressure with his actions to obstruct it, in a rare scene not previously witnessed in major leagues.

Al-Hunayan pointed out that the club still has the right to refuse Benzema's departure, especially since his contract extends until the end of the current season, which gives the management a strong negotiating position.

Al Hilal continues to lead the Saudi Roshn League standings with 46 points, three points ahead of Al Nassr and Al Ahli, in a heated battle for the top of the competition.
