The "Foot Mercato" network reported that Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi has officially requested the management of Olympique Marseille to terminate his contract, following the team's unexpected exit from the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat to Club Brugge in the final round of the league stage.

According to the same source, De Zerbi felt that the relationship between him and the club was no longer sustainable, which prompted him to request to leave, even though Marseille's management had previously considered the possibility of ending his tenure due to disappointing results.

The 46-year-old Italian coach has a record with Marseille this season that includes 17 wins, two draws, and 11 losses in all competitions since his appointment in the summer of 2024.

The report indicates that De Zerbi's potential departure could open the door for his possible return to the Italian league or the English Premier League.
