Chivu: We Will Go to Dortmund to Dominate and Win, This is the Situation with Barella and Lautaro
Christian Chivu, the head coach of Inter Milan, confirmed that his team will strive to achieve victory and dominate the match against Borussia Dortmund, in the eighth and final round of the Champions League group stage, scheduled to be held at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday at 10 p.m. Cairo time.
Chivu said: "This tournament is different from the Italian league, and we are very far behind. At the beginning, we were performing better than expected, then we made things difficult for ourselves, and the current situation is not ideal. Now we want to deliver a great performance to achieve the results we have recently missed."
He added: "We will approach the game with a winning mentality and aim to control the field, and at the final whistle, we will see our position in the tournament."
The coach continued: "Borussia Dortmund has a strong history in Europe, and they are one of the best teams. It is very difficult for opponents to win at this stadium. We will do our utmost to achieve the desired result."
Chivu explained that some changes in the lineup were necessary due to the physical conditions of some players, noting the absence of Nicolo Barella: "We decided not to risk him, as he suffered a setback in training, and we left him at home to recover."
Regarding team captain Lautaro Martinez, Chivu said: "He might be on the bench, not only because he is one yellow card away from a potential suspension. There is no time for such calculations as we play frequently. We will try to choose the best possible lineup. Does this mean Lautaro will start? I don't know."
Chivu emphasized that the team's main goal is to deliver a distinguished performance and achieve control on the field, regardless of the tournament pressures or previous results.
