Sky Germany revealed that negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and German defender Nico Schlotterbeck have not yet reached the signing stage, despite an agreement on the terms of the new contract.

According to the source, the player is still waiting for final approval to complete the agreement to renew his contract, which expires in the summer of 2027.

Schlotterbeck said in statements carried by the network: "We have not yet reached a stage where we can say that everything is complete. I had long negotiations with Sebastian Kehl (the former sporting director), but he is no longer here, and thus the situation has changed a bit."

The German defender added that he will hold a new session to discuss his future, saying: "I will definitely have talks with Uli Bok (the new sporting director) in the coming period."

Schlotterbeck concluded his remarks by highlighting the difficulty of the situation for both himself and Borussia Dortmund fans, saying: "I know it's unfortunate for Dortmund fans, but it's not an easy situation for me either."
