Walid Salah El-Din, the football director of Al Ahly club, held a special meeting with Mohamed El-Shenawy, the team's goalkeeper, to address his frustration after being benched during the match against Tanzania's Young Africans in the third round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

According to Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper, international goalkeeper Walid Salah El-Din called for respecting the decision of Danish coach Jess Thorup, who preferred to rely on Mostafa Shobeir for the match, after holding two prior sessions with the goalkeepers to explain his technical perspective before the game.

The football manager for El-Shennawy explained that Torop does not prefer to permanently fix one goalkeeper, as he believes that securing the position could negatively impact the technical performance. This led him to decide on rotating between the goalkeepers during the current phase.

The coach's decision resulted in positive outcomes, as Mostafa Shobeir successfully kept a clean sheet and led Al Ahly to a 2-0 victory over Young Africans, with both goals scored by Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet. This secured the team three valuable points in their continental journey.
