The Reason Behind Drew's Anger and His Request to Leave Barcelona
Sunday 25-01-2026
The decision of young player Drew to leave Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain was one of the biggest surprises of the current transfer market, after he was convinced of the need to leave the club due to his limited playing time, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport."

The newspaper explained that the critical turning point came after the match between Barcelona and Guadalajara in the King's Cup, when Drew did not get any playing time. This caused him to feel significant frustration and anger due to the lack of opportunities, even though he had hoped to use the tournament to prove himself.

According to Sport, Drew was one of the standout discoveries during the pre-season, as coach Hans Flick placed great trust in him. He started in important matches against Real Sociedad in La Liga and against Olympiacos in the Champions League, before his participation gradually declined due to the intense competition in the midfield.

The newspaper added that the player only participated for limited minutes against Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid, at a time when Flick was giving preference to players with first-team numbers during a phase in which Barcelona was regaining its balance.

The report confirmed that Drew's absence against Guadalajara was a turning point that prompted him to decide to leave, especially with long-standing interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The player later informed Flick personally of his desire to leave for purely sporting reasons, as he did not see a clear future for himself at Barcelona.

The report indicated that Drew was also uncomfortable with his participation in two matches with the reserve team, although he accepted it in order to help. Only the agreement between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain on the final details of the deal remains, to conclude the player's journey with the Catalan club in the coming days.
