Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Financial Dispute Against Juventus
The newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" confirmed that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo won his case against Juventus regarding owed salaries, with the decision that the club will not have the right to recover the amount of 9.8 million euros that had been paid to the player as part of his financial entitlements.
The ruling issued by the international judge in Turin, Gian Luca Robaldo, put an end to the long-standing dispute that had continued since Ronaldo's transfer to Manchester United in 2021, after he was owed an amount of 19.6 million euros for the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In April 2024, the arbitration committee ruled that Juventus was only obligated to pay half the amount, that is 9.8 million euros, because the special agreement between the club and its former player did not include Ronaldo's signature. This led to legal action after Juventus appealed the decision.
The source also added that the Italian club will cover the legal costs, but the ruling will not affect its budget, as the amount paid had already been recorded in the financial statement for the 2023/2024 season.
Juventus is expected to review the ruling to determine the possibility of filing an additional legal appeal, while the Portuguese star retains the final right to the amount owed to him.
