Slot: I am waiting for Salah's return, and this is the team's condition

Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Burnley in the 22nd round of the English Premier League at Anfield Stadium.

He began his talk about Mohamed Salah: "Mohamed Salah will return and be available next week. He will play an important match with Egypt on Saturday with his national team, then return to us. I am happy about his return. Mo is a very important player for this club and personally for me. Even if I had 15 attacking players, I would be happy to see Mohamed Salah come back, but that is not our current situation. I am happy about his return after an important match."

Regarding the importance of qualifying for the Champions League: "It is a challenge because we are playing in the Premier League and we have not put ourselves in the best position, especially if we compare our position after six rounds to where we are now. We are now competing for fourth place. Aston Villa is having a great season, and there is still a lot to play for in the league, because we know how important qualifying for the Champions League is for any club, especially this club. We did not qualify a few years ago and that had a big financial impact. We realize the importance of the Champions League, but we also realize that this league has become stronger than ever. We have the league, the FA Cup, and the Champions League to fight in."

He continued talking about Andy Robertson's statements: "I must praise him, he is very mature and I understand what he is saying. It is natural for any player to feel dissatisfied if he does not start every match. I am also happy because he said he still enjoys his current situation and how important he has been for this club throughout these years. He has played a large number of matches, even if not as many as he wished, but his behavior and the way he speaks to the media reflect his wonderful personality."

About the young right-back Calvin Ramsay: "I think it is great what Calvin has reached at this time. He returned six months ago to play with the under-21 team, and everyone there hoped to get a chance. Now he has a great opportunity to reach the first team when there is bad luck due to the injuries we are currently suffering from. There is always a player who benefits from that, and Calvin is one of them. I still think I have better options than him in his position, but with the current lack of options, he showed in the Crystal Palace match, and also during training with us, that he is good enough to be close to the first team players. After that, you have to wait for your chance to show that to the whole world. But at this moment, in my opinion, I still have better options than him."

Regarding the club's position on the transfer market: "Everyone inside the club agrees on the challenges we face. This does not mean that we will move in the market, but it means that everyone shares the same opinion. No one has a different view, but this also does not necessarily mean that something will happen."

About his relationship with Mohamed Salah: "What happens between me and Mohamed Salah over the phone or here stays between us. I do not see it necessary to share the details of private conversations I have with any player, whether by phone or face to face."

Regarding Dominic Szoboszlai's defensive error in the FA Cup, Slot said: "I talked with Dominic, and everything was resolved. That was not the best he has done in a Liverpool shirt, but he also had good moments in that match, scored a wonderful goal, and made an amazing cross to Florian Wirtz that almost became a goal, but that moment was not his best with Liverpool."

He stressed: "In the last 11 matches, we have barely conceded chances, but before that, we were creating many chances and conceding more. The matches were open and maybe some long for those now, but the results were not as we want. We have to find balance, and we will reach it, because I see the players' development, their increased confidence, and improved fitness. We are waiting for the moment when our season starts with more strength. It is always important to improve, regardless of your position. You have to develop your level because the teams you face in the advanced stages of the Champions League or FA Cup are stronger."

He continued: "The differences in these matches are very small. Last season, we were the only team that took Paris Saint-Germain to penalties and we were very close to eliminating them, but they were better than us in the end. We need a bit of luck in those moments, but when luck becomes an important factor, you have to be very good. I do not understand why Manchester City's goal against Newcastle was disallowed, but it did not affect because they won in the end. This is an example of a match where you were unlucky with refereeing but you won. Manchester United's penalty should not have affected our result, but it did because we lost, and there was a player (Alexis Mac Allister) on the ground who needed four stitches and the referee did not stop the play."

He concluded about the team's condition: "Yes, we have some injuries. Giovanni Lo Celso and Conor Bradley will be absent until the end of the season, and Alexander Isak will be out for several months. Apart from that, all players are available."
